Americans for Peace Now

Americans for Peace Now
Dear Neda,

Congress is now considering two pieces of legislation that will limit the Iranian regime’s ability to crack down on freedom of speech within Iran.

This is a great opportunity. Empowering the Iranian people must be a vital part of the American strategy to deal with the threat posed by Iran to Israel and to key American national security interests.

Click here to tell your Representative to support Iran sanctions that can work.

Here’s a bit of background on these two bills:

— HR 4301 – the Iran Digital Enhancement Act (IDEA) – would help give the Iranian people the high-tech tools they need to communicate online. It would also make it harder for the Iranian government to monitor or block Internet communications.

— HR 4303 – the Stand with the Iranian People Act (SWIPA) – would punish corporations that help the Iranian government stifle free speech. It would also allow American non-profits to provide humanitarian aid within Iran. And it would bar Iranian officials who have abused the human rights of the Iranian public from entering the United States.

Iran poses a threat to Israel and to America. Sanctions like these – that target the Iranian regime (and not the Iranian public) – should be one element of a broad U.S. policy that includes engagement.

Now is the time for action. What happens in Iran can have broad ramifications for Israel and for the future of the Arab-Israeli peace process.

Noam Shelef

Then and now – Traditional Media failure to deliver

In this article I dont need to go into deep analysis on likes of Flynt Leverett ,Hillary Mann Leverett and Will Heaven as there has been ample discussion on them. It is blatantly obvious where they are coming from and their dishonourable intentions well exposed. It is more important to see the symptoms and why actions  are needed to combat such misguided tendencies as well as the despotic regime who feels has a free reign in killing and pillage of innocent people. This same protests have been going on for more than 30 years, only this time round thanks to Internet and modern communication regime is impotent to repeat the same holocaust scenario again, while the appeasers camp wants to go on with their illogical argument of dealing with terror regime endlessly, clearly we need to fight this war on both fronts.

More than seven months has passed from the renewed uprising of a nation against injustices and atrocities of a corrupt and illegal  Islamic government.  However, there is a marked difference from such uprising in the past when government had the upper hand, its news blockade was successfully applied and 20 years ago, it did the same as what it is trying to do now, it arrested  every individual in the country it could suspect  or even have potential to be an opposition to its evil intents it then systematically massacred some 30000 in prisons. The news of which only came to light only years later and the full story is yet to be fully investigated and bodies yet to be identified buried in many unmarked mass graves. The despotic regime then could get away with it as there were no internet, all means of communications were blocked and with no observer or journalists on the ground it could happily carry out all its sordid intentions without any one watching. Then as now there were 1000’s of martyrs such as Neda, Sohrab and Taraneh but we don’t even know most of their names let alone of their faces.
The fact that an evil regime can dictate to the world and free press a news blockade, is reprehensible and illegal in every respect. It requires strong condemnations from every nations and citizens of this world that freedom to report on any governments action is moral and human rights of every individual on the planet. Governments have no rights to dictate censorship on the news and nor do they have the right to ban curtail journalist, reporters and photographers from carrying out their duties. There is I would say a strong arguments if a government blockades the news to ousted then outside world has a duty also to blockade it propaganda machine such as PRESS TV or IRNA who are paid specifically to disseminate misinformation to the world, to report on staged government rallies and to divert attentions from the actual issues that are going on inside the country. After all in diplomatic spheres we do the same the diplomats get expelled out, can we also kindly kick out those bloody IRI Spies who are only here in the west under the guise of Journalistic ticket with a sole purpose to disseminating lies and to take pictures of the demonstrators for regime intelligent services.
However what we are getting instead of a strong uproar against injustices and blatant disregards of human rights by the regime.  Is a wholesale disgrace of traditional press and news agencies sadly they must  also tow the party line too it seems.
Thats why we get miserable individuals such as Will Heaven to freely outpour his garbage on the pages of a tabloid press with a straight face and not mention a word about damning failure to report the reality on the ground. If only for heaven’s sake he had the balls to get his arse there in Tehran and taste the reality first hand on the ground, he would surly gain a wherewithal to issue a deserved apology for his imbeciliec outpours of earlier days.
Where are the Kate Edies of our time when they smuggled themselves into troubles spots of the world, risking their lives to get that one picture, report or interviews that did really make the news. It is sorely missed in these days, when dictatorship of IRI has declared a crime for anyone to even talk to all the press it does not sanction,  it has even gone to trouble of  produced a long list of ones no one can talk to and have connections with,  A kind of absurdity of Orvellian proportion (comically amongst it includes Yale university as those undesirables) , it has even arrested activists and oppositions figures who have dared to hold evan an interview’s with the likes of BBC.

Today with the current technologies there are 1000’s of citizen journalist each with their mobile phone cameras and twitter accounts busy reporting the news for free by the minutes. The details are so precise a recent gruesome incident when the regime Security Services(SS) ramming the population with their SUV’s and maul to death someone by decidedly running over them three times, with every murky details recorded with shaky cameras from many different vantage points ones even high above on top of the buildings, it may be possible to make not only a 3d records of this act but even a holographic movie of the horrors perpetrated by the regime for humanity to witness for eons to come. see link on close up analysis. One day soon we will have it investigated in  international courts of Justice as were done with Nurenberg Nazi’s after the second world war.  This time round it would be easier as we have all the evidence you need in holographic details.

One more green hero

By now it is becoming like a joint venture with the dictatorship regime whom unwittingly helping along to create another Icon to the green cause daily almost.
After 7th month of dissent, the road to the green revolution is as expected a bit bumpy and carries sad memories of fallen martyrs along its path.
We have come a long way from “where is my vote” to now an open defiance of the regime questioning its very legitimacy and existence, successfully eroding its power base of support in and outside the country.
Regime has become so impotent to deal with the situation, whilst its every attempt to silence dissent backfires often with major consequences beyond its comprehension. It is where like the last days of Shah is so oblivious to its plight, blind to what is going on around it and hopelessly trying not to concede defeat.

It has tried everything from show trials, intimidation, murder, torture and shaming tactics, desperately trying to stop the inevitable .
Each time it has been but very good only at helping to create another Icon for the Green movement.
The latest attempt at trying shaming Majid Tavakoli has turned into an international incident with thousands of supporters worldwide joining in or becoming converts to the cause. Strategically it has helped to bring the struggle to the open, where world opinion is turning its attention, for some it is unprecedented for men to be acting as strong feminists supporters and libertarians, it is more magnified for such stereotypically cast as Iranian men strongly associated with chauvinism, brought up in strong patriarchal society, which is really a breath of fresh air for the Iranian diaspora. For most the green movement has succeed in breaking many misconceptions about Iran, Men, Women and much of the taboos, that middle eastern men can also cross dress with a smile, in fact with pride. This is a secular movement encompassing all strata of society, creeds and political tendencies. With a very simple premise that a democratic civil society is achievable and the only answer for a better lasting peace. Repercussion that will reverberate through out the region and the rest of the world for months to come. It is time for all to join in support, Green deplores you to become part of it or support it as best as you can, for by now we are all sick and tired of the islamic zealots making life hell for the rest of us. Lets have a world in peace.
Thank you.
and Free Iran.

Reach out to the stars…

The other day, it was shocking and very sad to hear a dear old friend passed away, the most tragic was that it took almost three months for me to hear it from a third party and the fact that  I missed my opportunity to connect with him when I could more often is very painful to bear. Such is the current state of affairs in life, we now have less and less times for each other. Such was the case even before that faithgul moment when Neda became martyr, a symbol for freedom.

Every seconds robbed off us for one thing or another. There is often no time for deeper contemplation, less and less room for our fellow beings. For now I have to neglect and sacrifice many things, for we are fighters in this cause.  As Neda’s we must sacrifice friends, family and our own lives for Freedom. For we have no choice but to fight with our voices of silence and bear hands chained in gallows of dictators. While we are carrying on with daily chores, we also  lose focus on whats  important in life. The tendency is to give our highest priority to what we call work. Our working life is like running on a treadmill, heading to an elusive destinations an imaginary oasis. We falsley  think  finally with riches earned,it  will be a happiness abound.

We need to retain our natural  positive attitude in life as  something to be nurtured, practiced and retained  from an early age. Once negativity states sets in, we find ourself on a down hill spiral towards destination misery.

Children are full of joy, their outlook on life is of curiosity and amazement. It is a perspective that get beaten out of us at an early age, it is done by the brand “necessities of life”. Precisely  what we need to be weary of more than anything.

Question remains, Why are we in such a quagmire? And is it really that necessary – The costs of luxuries granted to a few, is becoming too expensive to bear for us all. Why make life unbearable to so many, we live in a universe with infinite riches and resources.

Current Economic system perpetuates an unnecessary recurring cycle of misery, famine, war  and continues to pollute our environment. The heavy burden on citizens to put themselves through extreme harsh hood in order to meet the set goals of perceived success, sold to them by truck loads through all medias is misguided.

We must fight for our rights, to rich out to  the stars, and  this time we literally need to actually do this. We must set our goals towards finding resources to feed, house and educate every citizen to the highest standard possible. Respect one another and our environment. Is it really too much to ask?

Ehsan Fattahian another hero for Sea of Green murdered by Islamic Republic

Ehsan

Ehsan Fatahian another Sea of Green hero for Freedom

Ehsan
Today the discredited regime added another page to their tainted history, the last letter of Ehsan is an address to all humanity. His last words reverberates through out pointing out the gross injustices that are being perpetrated by a cruel, inhuman and barbaric regime. IRI today is a spot of shame for humanity in 21st Century at odds with reality of what people of Iran want and What the world expects or can allow as minimum standard of governance internationally.
It punishes and kills with impunity. However brave and nobel people of Iran have risen. They are saying with resolute they want to rid of this regime and have democracy and Free Iran. This is essential for regional and global peace to remove a global instrument and sponsor of terror.

To put it simply this illegitimate and barbaric regime must be consigned to the dustbin of history sooner the better. As Ehsan said for sea of green “ every death is the beginning of a new life.”

Lets recall Ehsans words from his last letter

when punishment is the answer for those who seek freedom and justice, how can one fear his fate? Those of “us” who have been sentenced to death by “them” are only guilty of seeking an opening to a better and fair world. Are “they” also aware of their deeds?

They cannot see anything but their own illegitimate objectives, even when it is the question of a person’s right to life – the most basic of all human rights. How pointless is it to expect them to respect international treaties when they don’t even respect their own laws?

My death and the deaths of thousands of others like me will not cure the pain; they will only add to the flames of this fire. There is no doubt that every death is the beginning of a new life.

Reports from Sanandaj prison suggest that Ehsan refused to let the guards remove the stool on which he stood and stepped off the stool of his own volition. The HRA reporter says that this will be the last image those present will remember from a man who is gone forever.

Ehsan Fattahian was arrested in July 2008 and spent the first three months of his detention in solitary confinement. He was repeatedly subjected to physical and psychological torture.
